samadhi (n.): "intense esoteric meditation through yoga," 1795, from Sanskrit samadhi-, literally "a putting or joining together," from sam- "together" + a- "toward" + stem of dadhati "puts, places," from PIE root *dhe- "to do, set, put" (see factitious).
